The Critical Need for Pre-Burnishing: Nearly all new spring-set brakes need to be run-in or burnished. This process properly mates the friction surfaces, which is essential for consistent action and maximum stopping power.
If a brake is applied as a holding brake, used for an emergency stop (E-Stop), or if maximum torque is required immediately, specifying a standard catalog product means you will not get the benefit of full torque capacity right away. This oversight can create critical safety or performance issues.
