Torque
Limiters
|
[from
American Autogard catalog 1000.7]
A torque limiter is a mechanical device that will disengage
at a pre-set torque value. Its torque setting is set to a
value that is higher than the normal start-up and operating
torque, but less than the higher torque needed to damage the
weakest drive component. Therefore, in the event of a jam,
the torque limiter prevents damage by disconnecting the potentially
damaging drive inertia.

Automotive
Class Gear & Rack
|
Heat-treated precision gear and rack are required drive components
for today’s high cycling equipment used in body welding systems
and lift and transfer systems. Precision gear and rack are
required because commercial (catalog) gear and rack are not
held to the close tolerances needed for automotive body welding
systems. Quality heat treatment allows these components to
operate at high speeds and high cycle rates (16-20 hrs/day
and 50 weeks/year) and provides substantial wear life.

Emergency
Stop Braking Systems
|
Nearly
all spring-set brakes need to be "run-in". The "out of box"
torque on new units can be increased approximately 20% by
burnishing the friction facings. If the brake is to be applied
as a holding brake, or as an emergency stop, or if maximum
torque is required without run-in, Carlson-Dimond & Wright,
Inc. provides these brakes with dynamically burnished shoe
assemblies.
