Nearly
all spring-set brakes need to be "run-in". The "out of box"
torque on new units can be increased approximately 20% by
burnishing the friction facings. If the brake is to be applied
as a holding brake, or as an emergency stop, or if maximum
torque is required without run-in, Carlson-Dimond & Wright,
Inc. provides these brakes with dynamically burnished shoe
assemblies.
Note that if you order "standard catalog" products, and not
the Carlson-Dimond & Wright, Inc. burnished products, you
WILL NOT get the benefit of "full" torque acquired through
the additional burnishing modification we provide. Please
consider this option carefully when you specify a spring-set
brake. Specification of Carlson-Dimond & Wright, Inc. part
numbers will insure that you get maximum torque capacity "out
of the box", which can be crucial in emergency stop applications,
or in those applications where you are experiencing unsatisfactory
performance of "standard catalog" products.
In
addition, Carlson-Dimond & Wright, Inc. can provide spring-set
brakes with reduced release pressure of 60 PSI, which is critical
in automotive plant applications, where the often high, full
release pressure as required by "standard catalog" products
is not available.
